The course is devoted to the study of "basic settings of reality", each of which can be a powerful expressive means of both painting and drawing.
A common problem of drawing is that even knowing the basics (and not only basics) of drawing, we try to apply all our knowledge and means at the same time, guided only by the degree of its resemblance to nature.
As a result we get more or less similar, but inexpressive something with all the above mentioned details. And alas, this is not always of artistic value.
Studying and deep diving into the basic tools will help you make a step from "a bad camera copying reality" to a meaningful choice of means of artistic expression.
We will focus alternately and separately on the features of structural drawing, line drawing of different character, silhouette and joints, tonal composition, light and shadow, and color.
We will see how each of these layers can become a powerful self-sufficient artistic technique -
alone or in combination with others.
Characters in a good movie or novel are never equal and equivalent - but in the visual arts, for some reason, this is present throughout. So let's get to work casting characters to play the protagonists of your work - learn their differences and personalities and give each one a chance to express themselves more clearly.
After taking the course, you will master a set of basic expressive means and tools and learn how to use them, meaningfully choosing in each new work the most important thing for which it is made.
